QThe food was fresh hot steamy delicious sushi was fresh perfect with Sabe and ginger ratio rice was sticky the way it belongs. These are my wife views was hot just delicately salted on the edamame. Nice staff quick service but this isn't my favorite type of food I always feel like I'm eating air. Ok that it.

My boyfriend and I had a MUCH needed dinner date out tonight. When first walking in, the waiting room was awesome! The stone seats were fantastic! When going into the main area, the have a sushi bar, a water fountain and awesome decorations! We got the chicken and steak dinner and let me tell you, we will SO be back for more food. It was a bit pricy but we expected it to be with home much food they gave us. It came close to $50 after tips and tax. Overall I would give it a big thumbs up!!!!

Food was good! Service was good. Nick, my server was entertaining and a great server. I think the sushi could have been a bit better, and really deserves 4 stars, but everything else was great. I would come back here.

Came here with my family on a busy Friday night. The hostess said it would be 15 min before we got seated so we decided to wait. 15 minutes go by and we're still waiting. Next thing you know it's 30 min then 45 min. I go up and ask how much longer and she tells me it's gonna be awhile because she's seating people who made reservations first. Ok that's all fine and dandy but at least let your customers know so they're not waiting around wasting time thinking they're gonna be seated any minute. We got frustrated and ended up leaving. So basically we wasted an hour waiting for nothing. TERRIBLE customer service. The hostess with the glasses was very rude too. Never coming back.

Best hibachi in the area, never a miss always a hit, great meat and the noodles here are amazing! Staff is excellent and friendly! Sushi here is also good.

Not the best sushi I've had but still worth the try. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff is very nice. Be prepared to wait because there is only one waitress for the whole dinning area.

By far the best hibachi place in michigan and believe me I've tried quite a few. I don't know what's better the food or the service. Our Chef Adel was awesome. The steak we ordered was cooked perfectly with extra garlic sauce as requested. The shrimp and noodles were delicious. Our waiter Aaron was excellent as well. My water would not reach the middle point without him coming back to top it off. Everything was A++. If I could rate it a 10 I would. You won't be disappointed.

Went here tonight for a first date and it was nice. Very roomy restaurant. Losing a star cause our waitress was too attentive to the point where my date turned to me after her 4th time coming to us to see if everything was ok, we needed anything, etc etc and said "is it just me or is she annoying as f***!?" I laughed and said "I'm glad you said it cause I was thinking the same thing!" The cook left our table and I think I might've gotten a single bite in and she asked if we needed boxes....?!?!

Great for dinner. Great service. Our server was knowledgeable and engaged the whole time even when they were busy. No toro and doesn't open until too late are the reasons for four stars, nothing to do with quality or service. I was told over the phone that there was toro, yet when I got there there was not.

I have been to Osaka many times now, and by far I prefer it over Benihana, where I used to always go for my Asian cravings. Osaka has the hibachi grills, an alcohol bar, a sushi bar, and a dining area. You can order anything you want wherever you sit. Obviously the grills will give you that special show experience from the chefs though. I think the chefs, grill chefs and sushi chefs, to be amazing here! I only ever get hot green tea and sushi when I visit, because sushi is my drug. The tea comes in a little pot with a big tea bag seeping inside the hot water, and a perfect little tea bowl. Anything I have ever ordered looks so beautifully placed upon the dish. The taste of the food is phenomenal and the quality of the food I can say the same. The service is acceptable, not every waitress/waiter can speak English as well or as little as the last, but they seem to know what you want. Now I have had some snags in my service here before, but anytime it happened they redeemed themselves ten fold. Once they made a roll that we didn't order or made it the wrong way, and they let us keep that roll and eat it/try it/take it home, whichever we preferred and then brought us the one that we did order. And we did not pay for either! One time we waited a tad bit longer than usual, sitting at the sushi bar, and they made us extra little treats and samples as we waited for our food, and even after we ate our food. They truly are masters of food art...or porn as some call it ;) And I understand why food porn is a thing after eating here several times. The taste of the food is almost orgasmic, ha! I wish an Osaka would open up closer to Port Huron, so I would not have to drive over 40 minutes to get here, but the drive is really worth it, to me.

My friend treated me to lunch for my birthday. We ordered the filet. Our table side chef was so fun, and first made a heart on the grill with oil for my birthday and lit it. We started with soup and salad. The soup had large pieces of mushrooms and was so flavorful. The salad had a ginger dressing and I wanted to lick the bowl when it was gone, but restrained myself. Then he created the garlic noodles that were to die for, followed by the fried rice and veggies, and steak. I loved everything! Can't wait to go back.

I absolutely love this place! Peter and Chris spoil me and my boyfriend every time we are there. After a horrible experience at Shogun, they treated us with amazing service and even a dish on the house and a yummy fruit dessert. If their waitress is a little delayed a little, they always make up for it and take care of their loyal customers :)

Osaka can't be beat for best hibachi around. Kyoto was just appalling. I have only tried the teppanyaki side, no sushi. The quality of meats are amazing. I did the 6oz tenderloin and 4oz scallop combination. I added a 4oz calamari steak on the side. -Tenderloin: Tender as all heck! Check will ask you how you'd like it prepared, medium rare for me. -Scallops: So tender, cooked perfectly. I like a dark sear on my scallop, this is more sauteed, but quality and flavor were good. -Calamari Steak: Slab-O-Calamari flat top seared to tender perfection. Slices into thick strips to brown on all sides. Hibachi selection includes soup, salad, fried noodles, and steamed rice. -Clear Soup: Soup with mushrooms, not really sure but no complaints. -Ginger Salad: Obligatory salad. -Stir-fry Noodles: To die for. Add an extra side of them when ordering to bulk up your takehome! You can then divide your protein into two meals. -Fried Rice: Definitely upgrade to the fried rice as hibachi comes with steamed rice. It's the first half of the cooking show, and come off the grill hot, sweet, and savory with some crispy bits from the grill. Yessss! I'm not sure what is all involved with a 'show' but I like the freshly cooked in front of me thing. I don't care about shrimps flying around, or saki being squirted in my face. Lucky for me they haven't done that stuff ever, and that makes me happy. Price is higher than average, but food quality is way above average.

Delicious sushi. First time here. We got take out. It was great! Ordered the Osaka dragon, spider, California, Alaskan, and the rainbow roll. It was a great variety. There was not enough soy sauce though. Overall, really good. The dragon and rainbow were the best! They did say it would only take 20 minutes but took 40.

The sushi is always yummy and fresh and the staff goes out of their way to make sure my daughters allergies are accommodated for. My husband loves the sweet beef and my son says the hibachi noodles ROCK! Love this place!

Osaka is the steakhouse that takes over where Benihana leaves off. Yes, is one of those types of places... but at least Osaka keeps it special. It is not the same thing over and over and over again. A much larger selection of food, along with a larger bar selection as well. This location has recently expanded into a much larger area o accommodate what they needed to be able to handle the amount of people that came to a japanese steak house for celebrations.

We arrived at 755 for our 8pm reservation. The hostess would not seat us until our 'entire party' arrived. At 815pm we called our friends wondering why they were late. Shockingly, they were already seated and patiently waiting at the table. The patience soon wore off. Our waiter took his time with our drinks, after a reminder or two. The hibachi chefs finally arrived at our grill at 917pm. They seemed exhausted and barely performed. No shrimp in the hat, no egg in the air. The night ended early with our friends rushing off to their scheduled hockey game. A great meal with friends turned into a sad, boring, then rushed shoveling of food. In the end the food was good, but I could have just been really hungry.

Super duper awesome place! They have two section one for trerriyaki and the other part is more quiet. Tried their trerriyaki the first time I went and the size of the meal is so good and worth the money. I just went last week with my parents to here again and we went to the quiet section this time. Order the appetizer with 3 calforina 3 Nigiri . The meat on nigiri is so thick and fresh! We also had the bento lunch box and grilled salmon? (I think this is what my parents had, couldn't remember the exact name, but is salmon) nice service and nice food had a great time in here :3

Great food! I have gone here for many years and the food has always impressed. A few nitpicks though - it is a bit pricey, and the show the hibachi chef gives has never changed in the decade I've gone here. Lastly, they are very picky about reservations. Sometimes they don't remember you made a reservation at all. Sometimes if you have a larger party they will not seat you until absolutely everyone is there. So, for example, if you have a party of 10, and 1 member is late, all 9 must stand for however long it takes for the last party member to arrive. Better accommodations for waiting would be nice.

Sushi is to die for on the dining side. Daniel totally took care of us. We had a very long wait for everything...but Daniel checked in with us and even took care of a round of our drinks. It was well worth the hunger pains....by far the best sushi we have ever had. Soup is eh. I ordered the udon noodles and pushed the bowl away. Cant wait to come back and try the grill. **spicy tuna and shrimp fashion**

I always drove by but never stopped in. So glad I stopped in and tried the food. I would of gave it a 5 star for the food but the waitress forgot one appetizer and served my dish 5 minutes before my wifes. I will definitely stop by again because there food was really good. The waitress was also great.

While we have been going here for several years, we will NEVER return. We were sat across from a table of severely drunk women, women who were continuously served far too much alcohol from their waitress. They were very loud and obnoxious using disgusting language, disturbing our table and those around us. Even our nice chef kept shaking his head and tried to make light of an embarrassing situation. However, their waitress continued to serve them alcohol and the women became increasingly obnoxious after our chef left. One of the women continued to worsen, swearing, insulting and calling names to our party as we tried to eat our meals. We asked our waitress to bring a manager four times, but no one came to assist and the employees just stood huddled around a side wall socializing we were harassed. Finally the drunk woman left, and that was when a manager finally came over. He didn't apologize and simply gave us 10% off our meal. It was the most horrible service we have ever experienced at a restaurant, and their lack of care for their customers is apparent. They serve too much alcohol to customers, and yet do not protect the rest of their customers from being harassed by those drunks. Osaka should have their alcohol license removed before they allow for one of their customers to kill someone as they drive home drunk from this establishment.

We eat sushi here at least once a week, and have also enjoyed the Japanese grill, as well as teriyaki dishes. The environment is comfortable and clean, the staff pleasant, the food superb. This is the best restaurant in the area if you are looking for Japanese cuisine

just stopped in this place with my baby girl..... Jeno ( her choice ) .......NICE place , I'd be back in the future for sure ........ quick service and menu was somewhat pretty GOOD -- i liked it . My only thing that i noticed is that i ordered about 5 pieces of sushi -- all different kinds and when they came to the table , well they were kinda warm ????????? i don't know why ???? I've had sushi at 5 different places before and it usually comes COLD,,,,,,, i mean i still ate it and didn't complain and it was alright i guess ,,,,, just expected COLD that's all .... the swordfish was GREAT !!!!!!!!

I really want to give Osaka more than 2 because they had really nice service. Sometimes at Japanese steakhouses that is something VERY lacking. HOWEVER, there were some issues that left me a little less than enthused with our experience. Pros: Friendly service. Our server even helped us choose some sushi to try for the first time. The noodles. The hibachi meals come with noodles that are *So* good The salad dressing. Do they sell it? It's great. Reasonable prices of wine bottles --- Those three things make me struggle with my 2 star rating. I would probably go back and give Osaka another try before I give Shogun another try, which I rated higher. However, this is a rating based on my only experience and not how I feel they may do on another day. I ordered a hibachi meal of "lobster, scallops, filet" my date had a hjbachi meal of "filet, chicken, and shrimp". Unfortunately, we realized at the end of our prep that his SHRIMP was misunderstood as STRIP. The chef called for more shrimp, however we were billed for the strip steak we didn't ask for. We didn't complain as we felt kind of dumb having not realized it (it was cooking in front of us - duh) but after I went home I kind of felt I should have said something. That was $12 extra. The smoked salmon sushi roll (I can't recall the name) we tried was very good (and I'm not a huge salmon fan). The soup was ok, nothing different than anywhere else. The food was great and the portions were large. Most of which you'd expect from a place like this. Not a huge portion of vegetables, but you do get those tasty noodles so it was a good trade. I asked for my steak medium well and it def. well done. :-( I don't dislike Osaka, I thought it was good. I just think there are other places in the area I like better. It has lots of potential, and I like it better than the ever-popular Shogun, nearby but we shall see if I give it another chance. I admit I did not speak up about my issue with the extra steak, and probably should have, so I take partial blame. But all-in-all I just felt a little eh about that.

Meh to me, even though all my friends would rave about this place and give it 5 stars all day and consider it the "best hibachi there is in MI". To me the food was too salty and just tasted like a crap ton of garlic butter and seasoned salt thrown into the food. I got the swordfish, fillet, and scallops which was not bad, nor mind blowing, the best was the steak. My gf got the lobster and something else and that lobster was dry and bland. The sushi there was not bad though I'll give them that and was something I enjoyed, I'd say more than the hibachi.

I have been going here since they first opened. I have NEVER had a bad experience here with food or service. Just went there this evening and our meal was exceptional. We then went to the bar for a few more cocktails with some friends that came after dinner. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Only ate at the restaurant for table service, so i can't comment on the Hibachi portion, but there were A LOT of people waiting for it. We arrived for dinner and was seated pretty promptly. The restaurant is pretty large, so there was plenty of space and privacy for us to enjoy our meal. After looking through the menu, we ordered Soft Shell Crab appetizer ($8.50) and Sweet Beef ($9.50). Portions were subpar for the price, and the sweet beef flavor was awful. Since this is their version of bulgogi, it lacked the depth in flavor from the soy sauce and chilies traditionally used as the marinade. In fact, both Husband and I were wide-eyed as we saw the plates being brought to our table. The soft shell crab was a decent size, but 2 pieces with 3 small claws for $8.50? That isn't much of a value. Clearly, we felt pretty disappointed but decided to stay open-minded for the entree. Soon after our appetizers arrived, the two sushi rolls we ordered also arrived. We ordered their Spicy Tuna cut roll ($4) and Eel/Avocado cut roll ($5). Each order contained 6 pieces, pretty standard. The spicy tuna had a nice taste to it, and the tuna was pretty fresh. The eel and avocado roll though, was drenched in sauce, and you couldn't distinguish the flavor profile from the fish to the rice because of the abundance in sauce. The construction wasn't bad though. Next up was the Tempura Udon ($9). The texture of the shrimp tempura was great, and freshly fried. We appreciated that the shrimp wasn't rubbery and had a nice sweet and pungent taste. Combining the soup broth and the fish cake, this was a pretty flavorful dish. If only they could add more noodles! We had a lovely waitress who was sweet, personable, and prompt. She checked up on us occasionally and had a nice personality. I wouldn't mind coming back here for the udon noodle soup, but I'd definitely pass on the appetizers. It's really not worth your hard-earned money. Sushi rolls are okay, but not terrible.

Pretty good Japanese grill. Disappointed with the sushi. Spider roll was alright. Scallop roll was disgusting. Unless you like eating mayo out of a tub. Then you'll like it. If you like your filet medium maybe order it rare. Medium there in my opinion was medium well. Everyone in our party was pretty satisfied with their meal and it was priced reasonably. Took really long to check out.

We go here on special occasions. It's always some type of show our kids enjoy if not for ours (the parents) that can actually try to eat while the kids are awed by the entertainment. We go strictly for the hibachi. It's hit or miss if the stir fry will end up too salty, soy saucy, buttery, bland or just right but it's never terrible. The 2 dipping sauces given help mild out the flavor of your food prepared by the cook so that saves it all or ties the flavors together. What I truly enjoy is the soup and refreshing ginger salad. That's always yummy! All in all for entertainment and food it's the better hibachi grill to go to in the area.

  • Kyla C.

Really disappointing this used to be a great place to eat but not after they expanded. The hibatichi food was overly salty, the vegetables were unevenly cooked, the rice was old and the service was rushed. We had a reservation for 4:30 when they open and they were not ready for us. They are not organized in the back. The cook had to call a server for more shrimp. A busboy put plates on the table for the next service before the cook left or we had time eat. That is not sanitary. The roll of sushi I ordered was good but not up to their past standard. So to sum up, the food that tastes like garlic and salt, and the service is sub pair and rushed. I will not be returning when I am in town.

I've been dining at Osaka since it opened. I tend to prefer the regular seating side and have had teppanyaki here once (because friends wanted to try it) The food here overall is decent to good. The sushi is decent (a couple steps above supermarket and a step or two below good Japanese owned and run sushi bar) they recently remodeled to a much larger establishment. The lunch specials are a decent buy. The tempura here is crispy and not overly oily but a bit too heavily breaded. The rolls are competent. The fish is not always the freshest. The service is attentive and accommodating.

I think there's a new executive sushi chef here. The sushi has been not only SUPER delicious but really artistic as well. I'll be heading there weekly from now on, that's for sure.

Remodeled recently. Good food but a bit pricey. Dinner prices at lunch on the weekend. For the portion I received it was a bit overpriced. Personally I'm a big Benihana fan so I may be a bit biased. The remodel made the place huge! Maybe they have to charge a bit more to cover the cost of the reno? It's not some place that I would avoid but I don't go out of my way to eat here.

The Osaka bar isn't spectacular. It isn't awful.... it's just, average. Upon entering the restaurant I was absolutely blown away by the decor. The restaurant has some awesome pools with Japanese centric water pieces that rise directly out of a black tile floor. Some of them feature ponds and many of them have water cycling through to give the restaurant a tranquil and welcome feel. Upon being seated I waited a few moments for service and also experienced my diet coke running out. twice. Nothing is worse than eating salty Sushi and running out of a drink while enjoying it. I found the sushi cuts to be less than fresh, but still beats the stuff one might get at the grocery store that has been sitting in a cooler for 16 hours. I'm not really sure why the rice was so dry and wasn't as fresh as one might expect. Perhaps it's a unique species of sticky rice that I'm just not accustomed to with my other experiences? The same was also true of the fish. It seemed old and just didn't have the flavor I was expecting at the price point offered. VERDICT: Try the Teppan side but I can't recommend the Sushi.

This past weekend was my first visit to Osaka. I was not thrilled with the food. They cook the food with oil on the grill and then put some lard looking stuff on it and then squeeze soy sauce all over it. This is meal that can be made at home for LESS. They give you (2) side dipping sauces that lack flavor/excitement. I walked out spending $20.00 for deep fried chicken on a stick (bland) "was suppose to be Japanese chicken kabob", stir fried rice (nothing exciting) and soda...plus the tip was included for a party of (5) ladies. Not planning on going back.

We met at Osaka's for my girlfriend's birthday. There were about 15 people in our party. We were able to make reservations; everything went very smoothly when we arrived. Although, the food is made in front of you, you sort of wish it wasn't. They put a ton of salt on everything, along with this brick of garlic butter to enhance the flavor of what you are ordering. This makes the food really salty and garlicky. The food is delish but overpriced and VERY unhealthy. Also, the chief cooking for us seemed to be put out with the fact that several people within our group had food allergies. I sort of felt like telling him to , " pull his granny panties up , and deal with it ." Overall, it was a pleasant night out, but very expensive for what we got.

In Michigan, hibachi doesn't get better than Osaka. I have only tried the teppanyaki side of the resturant but the sushi on display at the sushi bar looks really good. Great attmosphere. They play a big Japenese drum and cymbals if its your birthday! For starts the soup you get with the hibachi is really good. It's alot like miso, but I think it's called "clear soup". The tipical giner salad was decent but rather small. What sets it apart from other hibachi resturants in the area is the quality of the meats and seafood, the stir fry noodles(that are included, I think there soba noodles), and the experience of the chefs. They put on a great show. Its a little pricey, but so is every other Japanese steak house. This is the best of the best!

This was my first time having dinner at this Japanese Steak House. I heard it was better than Benihana...SO NOT TRUE!!! I was at Osaka with 9 other family and friends celebrating my 55th birthday. I ordered the Tenderloin and Lobster combo dinner for $36.95. We were all eating our rice, noodles, and vegetables. Then the chef started preparing the seafood and beef. He prepared my lobster and then BY MISTAKE placed it on the plate of a friend seated three chairs down from me!!!. When the friend brought it to his attention, the chef motioned for the friend to strapped the lobster off his plate onto mine!!! I said OH NO, I would like you to prepare a new lobster. He said, " It's okay. He look like he's your son.!!!" THAT WAS DISGUSTING!!! I told the manager and asked for a credit. He said he was sorry and give me a $20 credit because I still ate the Tenderloin. Benihana, see you in 2 weeks for my daughter's birthday on April 4th. Osaka...NEVER AGAIN!!!

This is the place my husband's very large family goes for all birthdays (for hibachi). The food is good, but the service is terrible. On one occasion, we asked the waitress for Teryaki Sauce and she advised us that we needed to ask the chef, so we did.. twice. The first time my husband asked, the chef said no. The second time my mother in law asked and he didn't acknowledge her.. He never gave it to us or told us how we could get it. Our sodas and waters were constantly empty, and I didn't receive my wine until 3/4 of the way through the meal. What was really upsetting however is how the chef acted when my husband asked if he could have his scallops well-done. My husband actually requested that they be burnt and the chef again told him no. (literally, he told him no!) The very tiny scallops were just barely cooked through when the chef took them off the grill. We asked that they be put back on and cooked more. He ignored us. So my husband scraped them off his plate, back onto the grill. From there, the chef refused to touch, or turn the scallops as they were cooking. My husband was reaching over his plate for the entire meal to flip the scallops with his fork, and cooked them himself. After I advised the chef that I didn't want to catch the sake in my mouth, he sprayed my outfit with water. Are you kidding me!?? I'm dressed up very nice, and he sprays water down the front of my dress. Maybe he was trying to be funny, but at this point it was nothing but obnoxious. Ok so long story short, the food was good... but not the best. The service of the chef and servers was all around terrible. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because if you are celebrating a birthday, they will take a picture of your entire party and give it to you in a little frame.. which I think is really great. You can also buy additionals for about $5 each. Maybe it was just an off night, but I would never return here again.. and will be trying to convince the family to go to another Hibachi place instead.

Wow! Looove this place. First of all, it's HUGE. You could play football in there. Large dining room and even larger hibachi room. The chefs were fabulous. Even a few jokes I haven't heard before. LOL Great quaility food. Good entertaininment. Atmosphere is fun. Fantastic sushi list, per my husband. ( I don't eat it.) I love Japanese Hibachi, and this is the best in the area, by far, and bar none.

Awful! This is highway robbery! Just left this restaurant. Party of five, $200! No alcohol was purchased, two people had water to drink. Everything about our experience was awful. Our server, Joe, was the worst server we've ever had. He never came back for refills or to check to see how things were, and never brought out white rice. It was impossible to get take out containers. The food was so so. Filet was the rejects other places won't serve. Shrimp were chewy and chicken wasn't cooked all the way through one lady at our table asked the chef what the temp of the grill is. They load your plate with noodles and go cheap on the meat. The chef was a joke. He failed at almost every trick he attempted to do. I can even do a volcano, yet he somehow screwed it up. I should also mention the annoyance of the Japanese drum very ten minutes. It was so loud, then this woman was banging on a pan without a rhythm. I should also add that they add an automatic 20percent tip. I always tip generously for good service, but quite frankly, this server didn't even deserve $5. Such a joke. Will not return.

This is our favorite Hibachi style restaurant. The presentation is great, the cooks are fun, and the food is delicious. Definitely recommend this location.

I am not a big fan of Hibachi restaurants, but this place has good food. They also have a sushi bar. The sushi is very good also. I usually eat here when I am in the area. I would recommend trying it for sushi or if you like Hibachi style cooking.

Sushi was delicious, but service was just OK. I ordered a roll with shrimp, and my coworkers ordered spicy tuna and salmon rolls, and we all were really impressed with the quality of seafood and the promptness of our food arrival. Our waitress was not that friendly or accommodating, and we found the rule of not being allowed to crossover from the hibachi to the sushi area a little silly. My coworker asked for a side of fried rice and she was told that she couldn't have it because she was sitting on the sushi side of the restaurant. But the freshness of the sushi and the great tasting food was enough for me to still give it a high rating.

I get lunch at this place once a week. They have fantastic lunch specials during the week. The only thing that prevented me from giving it a 5 was going back on the weekend and finding the rolls to be seemingly smaller, and the prices seemed like they had a separate menu. For lunch they have a bento, sushi roll lunch, sushi/nigiri lunch, sashimi if thats your thing. Those are just some of the options, and they all come with Miso and ginger salad for 12ish bucks? GIve me a freaking break, that's an outstanding deal, and considering the quality of food and service, really outstanding stuff. I've never ate at the Hibachi, but friends have and it looks good. Definitely recommend.

First time eating here, loved it! Sushi was beyond delicious, & our chef was amazing with a great sense of humor. Everything was seasoned perfectly! Food was very good, will definitely be back when I visit the area!

Really enjoyed myself here the other day! The decor was very relaxing and authentic, the waitresses and waiters were prompt and helpful and friendly. The the drinks came immediately, along with a ginger salad, yum! They automatically have chopsticks, so if you want silver wear you will have to ask. I ordered some California Rolls and they were very tasty, my only complaint is the seaweed wrap was a little on the chewy gummy side, so I couldn't eat it. The Miso Soup was fantastic!! Though it lacked tofu....my main course was Beef Udon. It was DELICIOUS!!! Huge portion, plenty of noodles, onions, beef...! I will definitely get it again! My friends Chicken Katsu was also great, very tender, and the BBQ Mmmmm-mm! I just wish they had Curry Rice.....XD Note: These guys open from 11am-2pm, close then reopen at 4pm.

Osakas is by far a fan favorite amongst all of our friends. We typically celebrate all birthday parties at Osaka and the staff is so accommodating. The food is amazing - my husband and I split the C-4 every time and have never had a bad meal. My collection of photos they provide is vastly growing and can't wait to add to it. Thanks Osaka, for always showing us a great time with excellent food!

REVIEW OF SUSHI BAR: Simply the best sushi in Macomb County. Period. Trust me, I've been everywhere. Try the Shelby Township Roll. Amazing. REVIEW OF HIBACHI GRILL: Fun, extremely high quality, great food. (Superb fried rice was the surprise of night...really good.) However, a bit pricier than one might expect. But well worth it.

I'll start this review by saying I've never been to any Japanese steakhouse or Benihana before. I went in a complete Japanese virgin. The place is really nice on the inside with great decor and a warm atmosphere. The prices are high at around $20-25 for each plate but the upside is that you get a lot of food. The combination meal I ordered came with: clear broth soup, small salad, chicken, tenderloin steak, white rice, fried soft noodles, sauteed vegetables and dipping sauces. And it wasn't just a little bit of each, it was a good portion of everything. The chef was very entertaining and made it a very enjoyable meal. Everything tasted so great. I cannot wait to go back.

I have been there twice and it was not very good. The first time we were seated after waiting for 25 to 30 minutes. Our server took another 10 minutes to even pass by our table to take our drink orders. We almost left before they took our food order, but my husband wanted to give them a chance. The food was sub par. We tried a second time, giving them the benefit of the doubt, and it was no better. We sat on the restaurant side the first time and the hibachi the second time. Neither was very good. We found a better restaurant, closer to us, that is so much better.

Great sushi! They have an amazing happy hour - half off all sushi rolls! Spicy tuna anyone?! Parking is kinda tricky, but give this place a shot! Your belly will heart you for it!

My husband and I really enjoy the sushi here. We always have great service. We have never had the hibachi dinner so i cant comment on that. But there is always a wait for this service. Our sushi has always had fresh ingredients. The staff was very helpful with explaining the other dishes on the menu. The Miso soup is delicious!

4 Stars The first time I was here it felt like I was in Japan, the stoic looking guys behind the Sushi bar looked like they took their jobs seriously. There was a couple at the bar eating sushi, I thought, "they are just eating Sushi for dinner?" Well, when we sat down and got Sushi to start our meals I found out that you could very well just have the Sushi here and be totally happy. I haven't had a lot of Sushi to compare this to but this was very good. My girlfriend and I now come here a few times a year. This is a Benihana type place where you sit at a table with a group of people and a chef does tricks with the food while he cooks it in front of you. Amusing right? Yeah, it is. I appreciate it but what I like best is when the food is being placed in front of me. The meal with the show is kind of expensive (but you get a show right?) Anyways this is always good for a date. Every half hour the waitstaff grab some percussive devices and start drumming a cool beat and just when you think the jamming is about to commence... they stop. You can dine in the bar area if you just want Sushi. Pros: Sushi, fun, cool, atmosphere Con: Somewhat expensive (Sushi isn't though) Tips: don't be afraid to look ignorant by asking questions about the sushi and how to order it, they are very gracious

Watched the sushi chef make my rolls. He cut the old avocado ends off from the previous day which were black on the outside and used them on top of my roll by exposing the green side. When he handed the roll to me I questioned him about it and he tried to say it was fine even after I turned it over to show him. My final response was would you eat it and he was silent! I've had sushi all over for over twenty years. Stay away from this place. Always watch them make your food before you order sushi for the first time when you are trying a new place.

Don't go there! The food quality and the service were very terrible. I brought my two teen children to this restaurant for hibachi. It was a Friday lunch time, no body there. First, the host wanted us to squeeze into a small corner, two on one short side, and the other one on the other side. I asked her if we could sit on the same long side together since no one there. She wasn't happy to say if someone came, then we had to move. What was that? Besides, they put 8 chairs for a 5-people grill table. Not even skinny Japanese people could fit in there. Can we?? Then, we had to wait 30 minutes for the chef to show up. I didn't know why? There was no one there, we were the only customers there. And, the chef came with his chef hat showing backside to us. All of us had to hold not to laugh at him. He corrected it when the host came to tell him that he wore his hat wrong side, then he told us he just woke up. That was a lie!! While I parked, I saw him smoking outside. What a professional chef!! What he showed was that he didn't respect his job or his customers. To me, it was an insult. I PAID him to cook. The chef cooked our steaks well done, though I ordered them medium. He also stacked everything else together. He wasn't doing hibachi, but stir fry!! The quantity and the quality of the food were overpriced. My daughter even said we were ripped-off. We were still hungry when we left there, especially my teen son!! This is my very first and only review for a restaurant!! I feel so sad the only thing the restaurant owner could think of was MAKING MONEY!! Not the reputation of the place!! It was an insult to their customers!!

Growing up, we used to visit a (out of business) Japanese Steak House near 14 & Orchard Lake every year. I have tremendously fond memories of the fun & delicious meals we had there. I wanted to share this fun experience with my young children and came in with high expectations. They met and exceeded them completely! The staff was very friendly, the chef was very entertaining and personable! My children had a blast! They tried & ate everything and sat still for 90 minutes without a fuss! It had been some time since I have had Teppanyaki, but I thought this was the best I've had since I was a boy. I gave it four stars, because we had to wait 25 minutes even though we had a reservation. We will definately revisit Osaka!

We went as a family of four for the first time last night on the recommendation of a friend. We were all impressed with the experience. It was like a "dinner theatre" our chef was totally entertaining and engaging. We each ordered different entrées from salmon, steak, chicken, scallops and shrimp and everyone was satisfied. The entire experience exceeded our expectations and we will be back with others in tow!

My family and I love Osaka. We've had table service and take-out for sushi, and have enjoyed the hibachi dinners too. We've tried their steak, chicken & shrimp stir fry, and have sampled at least seven different types of sushi and, so far, it has always been delicious. Their fried rice is SO good. The wait staff have always been very friendly, and we've always been seated pretty quickly. They won't get any complaints from me.

Always have the best sushi here and miso soup! Also try the fried rice, it is the best hands down from any other Japanese Steak House! Pricing is very good. Sit and watch the guys make you sushi. They always made us something for free and were super nice. I highly recommend reservations if you want to sit anywhere. They are always busy for a reason, they are awesome!

We arrived at 145 in the afternoon they would not serve us as they said they closed at 2. We told them it was not 2 yet. They said that they do last call on food. It was my first time here and because they were so rude we would not return.

If you are looking for a change and want to impress a group of people, or just try to take the kids to somewhere fun, this is the place! First off LUNCH is a steal! I had steak and shrimp, fried rice, vegetables, noodles, soup and a salad for $13.99! I will stack that up against any restaurant on hall road and they put on a fabulous show! Many of the other lunch items are priced at $10.00! I would highly recommend you stop in and impress the family and friends!

Ate at the sushi bar and loved it. The chefs were willing to answer our questions about the sushi. It wasn't our first time eating sushi but it was our first time at a sushi bar. The sushi was great, the decor was great, everyone is very friendly. Just the place to go for a date night.

Fun decor and great staff. The food is excellent. You can sit around the grill or you can be seated in the dining room. We usually sit at the grill. If you sit at the grill you can still get sushi (some Japanese steak houses don't offer sushi at the grill). I don't order the sushi but my wife says it's wonderful, and she's had sushi at many restaurants. My typical meal is the steak/chicken combo and it's great. As at most Japanese steak houses the chefs are entertaining and put on a little show. Meal comes with soup and a small salad (topped with ginger dressing of some sort) as appetizers. Your entree will be complemented with rice (white or fried), grilled veggies, and grilled noodles. The portions are quite large and you can surely have some to take home for later. It's a bit pricey, and on Friday or Saturday nights there could be waits of up to an hour. But we go back often and enjoy dining there.

I used to eat here all the time. Food has significantly gone down hill. Way too salty and too greasy. And now everyone wants to be seen here so it is almost impossible to get a table. I found a much better hibachi Japanese steakhouse. Right down the street. I am done with Osaka.

Ate here a couple weeks ago and the food was good.. Nothing special though. Our group felt that on the whole, Benihana's on 16 Mile was better. The filet Mignon was better at Osaka's. However, the soup, fried rice, and chef were not as good. Wasn't very busy on the Sunday evening when we went.

Osaka is a very good Japanese Steakhouse. The grills are large and you're not crammed in elbow to elbow with other people. This is a family owned place and everyone is very friendly. Most importantly the food is very good. We had scallops and a NY strip steak. Both were cooked very well. The steak was tender and tasty so that's all you can ask. As most Japanese steakhouses are, Osaka is a little expensive but don't forget, you're paying for the show too. I'll be back to try the sushi soon.

I haven't tried the teppanyaki however, the sushi is the best I've had in the area. I like the decor, modern Japanese with clean lines but still feels warm. Unfortunately the beer and wine menu is small. I can't wait to go with a group to try the teppanyaki grill in the back!

This is my favorite restaurant in the area, hands down. They are always very accommodating when we bring our kids and they've been great with a party of 2 or 8. I think we have been here at least twenty times and have never had bad food or service. The ambiance is great and it's almost always busy. Seriously the best.

I've done both the Sushi bar and the Steakhouse. I'll review them each separately. Sushi Bar: This is one of my preferred places to eat Sushi. The folks preparing the Sushi are wonderful. They'll answer your questions (and being someone who recently began eating this American-scary stuff, I appreciated that). As seems to be typical, you can get a good look at the "raw stuff" and decide for yourself if it looks good or not. Thus far, I haven't seen anything that scared me away. I've also not run into a single thing on their menu that I didn't enjoy. The service is best described as ... exactly right. My Sushi was never brought out while I still had a bowl of soup I was enjoying. My desert was never put in front of me while I still had Sushi waiting to be eaten. My wife and I like to go there for lunch when it's dead. The waitstaff doesn't crowd you, yet you're not sitting there waiting for someone to refill your tea. Steak House: If you've been to a Benihana, or (locally) Mayako, etc, the experience is similar. They give you a few extras like noodles (which are very good). They do all of the typical silly stuff, though I will say that it really depends on the chef. We've done their Hibachi deal three times this year. The first time was good ... the second time was great ... the third time was good. I advise not wasting your money on the Filet over the regular steak if you like beef medium rare or rare. As with every single American Japaneese Steakhouse on the planet, the meat has the crap cooked out of it so the nice, tender, juicy, Filet is ... about the texture of a sirloin at Big Boy. (Maybe that's too harsh ... When you're cooking for 10 people with different preferences on a very hot grille, that's what you get). My wife orders the Scallops and *loves* them. The shrimp is also good. The service at this place is fantastic. The chef's are friendly, the waitstaff is attentive. Drinks: Pricey, and not that great. They carry the typical Asian beers (nothing on draft). I don't expect a Japanese Steak House to have a good red wine selection, and I was right. When we went with my family this week, we grabbed a bottle of (unnamed) Pinot Noir for $25 and it was the same stuff I can pick up at Rite Aid for $5 (the typical ~400% markup, but without the buyer).

The sushi here was very good. The pieces of sushi we received were very large, dare I say too large? The rolls were very large too, I felt like they could have sliced a couple of the big rolls thinner in order to reduce the huge mouthful that was each bite. They were very very tasty though. Id recommend the Super Bowl Roll and the Osaka Dragon. The Spicy Tuna Roll was better than i have had at other places but still could have been spicier. Overall, my tastebuds were satisified here. The atmosphere is why I had to down grade. I was absolutely freezing! I am generally not a person that gets cold easily, but I had to leave my jacket on the whole time. Perhaps it was so cold to allow for the heat from the teppanyaki section but for those coming for sushi or a regular entree, be sure to bring a sweater! In addition, our server was, at times, awkward. He once walked up to the table and was laughing at something unbeknownst to me, which made me a bit uncomfortable. Would I go back? At this point I'm on the fence. I might be persuaded because I am able to have a cocktail with my meal there but, there are other places in the area I might choose to visit first simply to feel more comfortable.

Best sushi and Japanese steak house in Macomb County. Very similar steak house experience to Benihana and Shogun. Outstanding sushi menu selection and great grill selection. As C J C mentions, there are really 2 restaurants in 1. If you prefer sushi, you can skip the grill and eat much quicker and with less production. There is great menu selection and the food is delicious. However, if you prefer that steakhouse experience, the staff provides a memorable experience. Just get there early, it fills up fast!

I am sad to be writting a bad review of one of my former favorites, but it has to be done. We took my mother here for Mother's Day last night and made reservations. We arrived 5-10 minutes EARLY for our reservation and it took over an hour PAST our reservation time to be seated! This was after being repeatedly told it would just be "a few more minutes". I have been here many times before and never had a problem, but this was chaos. Fortunately most of the food was still good quality and the portions generous. But the sauces you get at the hiabachi were watered down, and my tuna nigiri did not seem very fresh and was dried out. I also noticed there were new signs posted all around the hiabachi area that informed guests to not stick around after eating. We were happy to leave immediately but it took over 15 minutes after we were finished with our meal to get the bill. I think the signs are unnecessary and seem a little rude. Overall I am sad to say my love affair with Osaka has ended.
